Chick-fil-A

Literally had Chik-Fil-A twice in four days this week. I’m obsessed. For some reason I didn’t really care for it back in California, but since I moved, I see why people love it. (Although I don’t like the sauce – boo, I know).

El Tiempo Cantina

On Friday, we decided to try the El Tiempo right across the street from The Original Ninfa’s on Navigation. It was pretty good. Can you tell how big my tacos were? I was only able to finish one.

Kim Son buffet

On Saturday, we were craving the buffet at Kim Son on Bellaire, so we decided to drive out there for lunch. So good. If you go to the buffet during the week I believe it’s a lot cheaper. Definitely try it out if you haven’t been.

fitting room selfie

Fitting room selfie. After lunch on Saturday we decided to drive out to the outlets in Cypress to see if there were any good sales going on. Picked up a couple of things, including this jacket from Calvin Klein.

Common Bond Cafe and Bakery

On Sunday we had brunch at Common Bond Bakery & Cafe in Montrose. It actually just opened last Tuesday, and the buzz must’ve been good because it was pretty packed. We had to wait in line for about 30-40 minutes to order our food. Definitely worth the wait though. The interior and vibe really reminded me of Bottega Louie – especially because of all of the pastries. If you ever visit Los Angeles, Bottega Louie is a must try!

grilled cheese and sweet corn chowder

I ended up ordering the grilled cheese and soup – the soup ended up being a sweet corn chowder. DELISH.

pastries to take home

Of course we had to order some pastries to-go!

exterior of Common Bond Cafe and Bakery

Not only is the interior of Common Bond appealing, but so is the outside. Definitely fits right into the neighborhood. We’ll be back soon!

On Thursday we were both starving and wanted something quick for dinner so we picked up burgers from Sparkles Hamburger Spot right down the street.

BBVA Stadium

Last Sunday we went to our first soccer game at the Dynamo BBVA Stadium. I wish the weather was a little better because we were both dripping with sweat once we got to the game, since we walked there. The game ended in a tie, but it was a pretty cool experience and the stadium is really nice. Next time I am definitely sitting under the covered area though.

coconut smoothie

Post workout coconut smoothie from the cafe inside the YMCA. Literally LOVE anything coconut.

crawfish at The Boot

On Friday night we went to The Boot in the Heights for some shrimp and crawfish. The seasoning was really good and we both liked the atmosphere because the seating was outdoors – perfect for the weather right now, but not so sure about during the summer.

Right after morning yoga on Saturday.

Went to Baby Barnaby’s Cafe this morning for brunch, and it was AMAZING. The food was soo good!

Decided to wear my latest purchases to brunch this morning.

Ended up changing into a t-shirt because it was too hot. A white shirt and jean shorts will always be one of my fav outfits. Simple and classic.

dinner at Huynh

Found another good Vietnamese restaurant in EaDo, called Huynh. Definitely check it out if you’re in the area.

sparkling grapefruit limonade

Ever since I went to Japan last October, I’ve been obsessed with grapefruit juice. My obsession continues, because I found this at Phoenicia earlier in the week.

Original Ninfa's

Had an early dinner at The Original Ninfa’s this past Friday. Hands down, the best Mexican food I’ve had in Houston so far.

Tellepsen Family Downtown YMCA

We recently discovered and signed up at the Tellepsen Family Downtown YMCA. We were looking for a reasonably priced gym in the area, and luckily found this place. I absolutely LOVE it! There are plenty of machines and it’s never too crowded, even during prime hours. Not to mention that they offer tons of workout classes too!

Minuti vanilla latte

After our morning workout yesterday, we stopped for some coffee at the Minuti Coffee in downtown, where I got my favorite Vanilla Latte Shakerato.

Minuti in downtown

How cute is the interior of this Minuti?

candid

Excuse the face – the sun was in my eyes. Yesterday we went to the Sundance Cinemas for the first time to see The Grand Budapest Hotel. It was hilarious and clever, just as I expected. Really love that theater too! After the movie we just wondered around a little bit and people watched because there were a couple of events going on in the area. Love exploring new places, especially when the weather is nice!

Had breakfast this morning at the French Riviera Bakery & Cafe. Had been wanting to try this place for awhile because I used to drive by it all the time. Definitely check it out if you love pastries. The blueberry cream cheese croissant was DELISH.

Los Angeles

Always have an iced coffee in hand. Reppin’ the home town. LOVE LA.

Some pictures from today and earlier this week. Feel like I haven’t posted in awhile. I actually came down with a cold last weekend and missed work on Monday and Tuesday. Ugh, being sick is the worst. I was literally in bed all day. Been taking Vitamin C and DayQuil all this week.

Sunday Selfie

A few pictures from this weekend – just ran some errands and relaxed. When you get older your weekends tend to go by even faster because that’s really the only time you have to get things done. Sigh. Adult problems. Sometimes I wish I could go back to being a kid when everything was easy and all you had to worry about was doing your homework. #dontwanttogrowup

Underbelly

20140330-125928.jpg

Since Friday was my mom’s last full day in Houston, we took her to a couple of tourist spots so that she could take some more pictures. Earlier in the week, I had made reservations at a restaurant called Underbelly, that I had been dying to try from the reviews on Yelp and I knew my mom would love it. Let me just say that it was DELICIOUS and I cannot wait to go back. It is definitely a must-try if you are in the Houston area.

I am definitely sad that my mom had to go back home, but hopefully I can go back to visit or she can come back soon. Moving away from home is a life experience that has not been easy, there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about home. But it is something that helps you grow as a person – it gives you perspective and allows you to see and experience things you wouldn’t normally see or do otherwise.
