A couple weeks ago, some friends and I went up to Mammoth to fish for the long weekend. Can’t tell you how good it was to get away for a couple of days. I’ve been going to Mammoth since I was a kid; my family used to go every summer for the annual Shogun Tournament because my grandpa loved to fish, so I always think of him when I’m up there.

It was actually really cold while we were there – the coldest weather I’ve ever experienced during a fishing trip. The first day out it started hailing on us while we were still on the boat. But nonetheless, it was still a good trip. Can’t wait to be back there in July! Here are some pictures until then.

Manzanar

We decided to visit the Manzanar National Historic Site on our way home. I had never been, and always wanted to go as both of my dad’s parents were in the internment camps during World War II (however, they were relocated to Heart Mountain Interpretive Center).

I definitely suggest stopping by if you have the time or would like to learn more about this relocation center and what the Japanese Americans who were placed here experienced.

Bishop

On our way home, after making our usual stop at Schat’s Bakery in Bishop, we decided to wander around the city’s Memorial Day Arts and Crafts Show at the city park. I picked up a sterling silver personalized name ring, that I am currently obsessed with (picture to come in a later post).

All in all, I’d say it was a good trip.
